Pasquale PATRIZIO (USA)

Dr. Pasquale Patrizio is a board-certified specialist in Obstetrics & Gynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Andrology and Master in Bioethics.  He is Professor and Director, Yale University Fertility Center.  He is an associate editor for Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, section editor of the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Biomedicine On Line and founding member of the International Society for Fertility Preservation (ISFP).  He has authored 8 books, 513 scientific papers (73 book chapters, 176 peer-reviewed publications and 258 abstracts) and holds 2 issued US patents (diagnostics and therapeutics).  He is Honorary member of the Italian Society of Fertility and Sterility, and an honorary member Ob/Gyn of Mexico and Chile and has received prize paper awards from ASRM and ESHRE.  He is the past president of the International Society of Fertility Preservation and will be the Chair-Elect of the Fertility Preservation Special Interest Group for ASRM.  Among his many contributions to the field: a) He co-pioneered the technique of MESA; b) discovered CFTR mutation responsible for the congenital absence of the vas deferens; c) reported microdeletions on the Y chromosome responsible for severe oligospermia; d) described mechanisms of cumulus cells hypoxia leading to oocyte aging.  His main research interests include:  Improving the efficiency of ART, reducing multiple pregnancy, fertility preservation strategies, ovarian aging, simplifying IVF laboratory and methods to lyophilize gametes and stem cells.
